Access Statement

Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of all our visitors to our home based, owner occupied bed and breakfast accommodation. The following statement is a summary of our provision. Please contact us should you have any specific questions relating to our property and we will endeavour to help.

Pre-Arrival

  • We may be contacted by telephone (landline or mobile), e-mail or letter.
  • Public transport is available to Padstow by public service bus from Bodmin/Wadebridge and the Newquay direction. The nearest railway station is at Bodmin Parkway. The nearest airport is Newquay. Taxi numbers are available on request. The website of the tourist office on www.padstowlive.com contains lots of useful local information. The Tourist office telephone number is (01841) 533449.
  • Padstow has shops, restaurants and pubs all within an easy 5-10 minute walk of the house. The walk to town is down a short hill via Church Street and Duke Street or a more level walk through the Churchyard, which has pathway lighting during hours of darkness.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

There are no parking facilities at 50 Church Street. Arrival at the house is down a one way street, it is possible to stop outside to unload. We are directly opposite the Parish Church. Entrance to the house is via a step 10cm high, the doorway opening inwards has an opening 76cm wide. The porch is 127cm long leading to another door which is 87cm wide. The hallway leads to the stairway and the entrance hall to the kitchen/diner along a level/tiled floor.

Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area

There is only one entrance to the property on arrival. We endeavour to meet guests (please see check in times on website) Help is available for luggage of reasonable weight.

Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc

  • Bedrooms are accessed via a staircase with tread widths of 28cm and depth of 18cm there are 12 to a small landing then four more to the bedroom level. Stairs are fully carpeted with handrail.
  • The hallway to the kitchen/dining area is fully carpeted.

Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc

There are no public lounge facilities.

Public WCs

There are no public toilets available downstairs.

Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Bar area, Take Away & Cafe

  • The dining area forms part of the open plan kitchen. Access via a doorway, opening inwards from the hallway, 99cm wide. Entrance to the garden though doorway in dining area, opening inwards, width 66cm. A step down onto paving slabs, over threshold, 17cm.
  • Separate wooden tables 79cm high, with wooden chairs which can be moved.

Laundry

There is no public laundry facility. Use of the household washing machine is available on request.

Shop

There are a selection of shops available in the town, including a well stocked Spar shop, a chemist and several take away and bakery options. Some more limited in winter months, please enquire if you have any specific requirements.

Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas

  • Two king sized double bedrooms. Room One: larger with bay window, two tub armchairs. Bed height 56cm. Doorway, inward opening, 72cm. Room Two: two armless chairs, bed height 56cm. Doorway, opening inward 72cm.
  • Room One has an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower over. Room Two has an en-suite bathroom with walk in shower cubicle.
  • Wooden furniture in both rooms comprising of wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinet each side of bed.
  • Lighting switched from doorway and bedside.
  • Fitted carpets throughout.

Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared]

  • Room One: Doorway, opening inwards 72cm. White tiled floor, partially white tiled walls. Toilet, situated in between basin and bath, with space either side. Bath has shower over. Heated towel rail.
  • Room Two: Doorway, opening outward into bedroom 72cm wide. White tiled floor, partially white tiled walls. Toilet situated to left of door, beside shower cubicle, basin opposite. Some space around toilet. Step into shower cubicle. Heated towel rail.

Grounds and Gardens

Garden is available for guest use at any time. Smoking is permitted. A terraced space, reached by steps from the lower level outside the kitchen door, a wall to one side, but no handrail. A table with chairs is available on the first level. Shelter is provided by an umbrella. Further steps lead to a small grassed area with decking. Two loungers available. A path leads out to the rear of the property leading to a level street (High Street) back to the town via a hill (Cross Street).

Additional Information

  • There is mobile reception, with some networks giving patchy coverage. WiFi is available free of charge.
  • We are able to use the front door, side door and kitchen door for emergency evacuation. Residents can be alerted if necessary. Special requirements should be made known at time of booking.
  • There is a strict no smoking policy in the whole house.
  • Small silent mini-fridges in both rooms for storage of medicines.
  • Decoration throughout is white or shades of white on walls and white dado rails and skirting boards. Doors are all stripped wood. Carpets throughout are of oatmeal colour.
  • Owners are on call/available 24 hours a day.
  • Emergency procedures/information available in room folders.
